MDX Docs is an open source static site generator built to help developers quickly create documentation sites, style guides, and other content-driven web experiences using MDX.
The project transforms MDX files into fully routed documentation pages with built-in navigation, layouts, sidebars, and customization options, making it easy to stand up polished documentation without rebuilding common infrastructure from scratch.
The decision to support MDX was intentional: traditional markdown is great for documentation, but MDX unlocks the ability to embed React components directly into content, enabling richer documentation experiences for component libraries, design systems, and developer tooling.
Built with a strong focus on developer experience, MDX Docs emphasizes speed, flexibility, and sensible defaults while still allowing deep customization when needed.
