Tab Groups Switcher
Tab Groups Switcher is a lightweight Firefox extension designed to make navigating tab groups faster and less disruptive.
The idea came from a simple frustration with Firefox’s native tab groups. While the feature makes it easier to organize browsing contexts, switching between groups can feel slower than it should, especially for people who frequently move between work, research, and personal tasks throughout the day.
Tab Groups Switcher solves this by providing a streamlined interface for quickly jumping between existing Firefox tab groups without digging through browser UI.
Rather than replacing Firefox’s native tab grouping system, the extension intentionally builds on top of it. The goal was to preserve the simplicity of Firefox’s implementation while removing friction from an otherwise useful workflow.
The extension surfaces existing tab groups in a lightweight popup, making it easier to switch contexts quickly while staying focused.
Key features include:
- Quickly switch between Firefox tab groups
- Lightweight popup interface
- Works with Firefox’s native tab group system
- Minimal, focused user experience
- Designed to reduce context-switching friction
The project was also an opportunity to explore Firefox’s WebExtensions APIs and build a narrowly scoped tool around a very specific pain point. Rather than trying to reinvent tab management entirely, the goal was simple: make an existing workflow feel noticeably better.
